Frequency shifter

A frequency shifter is a device or module that uniformly shifts all frequencies of an input audio signal by a fixed amount in hertz (Hz). Unlike a pitch shifter, which multiplies frequencies by a constant factor (preserving the harmonic relationships between them), a frequency shifter changes frequencies linearly, resulting in a change in the harmonic structure of the sound. This can produce effects that sound inharmonic or alien, as the shifts do not correspond to musical intervals. Frequency shifters are used in sound design to create unique spectral effects, phasing, and otherworldly sounds, adding a distinct character to audio material. Try adding one to a delay feedback loop.
